Judaism and Christianity were the religions that changed the Ancient World. They helped to influence modern day religion and both contributed to many aspects of change in the Ancient World. They both differ in their beliefs, but have some similarity. They also both impacted the Roman Empire and the Ancient and Modern worlds in their own individual ways. Judaism and Christianity are quite different. Although Christianity, developed from Judaism, it’s beliefs are very different. Judaism in its early stages was affected by nearby tribes.Whereas, Christianity was not affected by the religions around them. The textbook also states the division of the Hebrew and Christian bibles. The Hebrew Bible is divided into three parts. They consist of, law, prophets and writings. The Christian bible is divided into four parts. The three stated before are included in the Christian bible, but the fourth book that is added is the story of Jesus Christ. (Exploring Cultures in the Ancient World, Pg. 158) The Christians, also reject the Jewish dietary along with circumcision. …show more content…
For example they both used the same language. This language was Greek. They later then translated their writings to Latin, as well. Another similarity continuously brought up in the textbook is monotheism. The idea of having one single true God. Both religions agree on monotheism. This was also a reason that caused many Romans to dislike them. In common they also share the idea of a messiah. The idea of an Apocalypse, festival of passover and zoroastrianism. The names of which they call these are different, but the foundations are ultimately the same. They also have hymns, prayers and bible readings,
