On June 22, 1941 the Soviet union was invaded by the Nazis. The Nazis word also joined by Italian forces n. This operation compromised many of the following battles important to World War II. Hitler had his eyes on Russia before for its raw materials and slave labor. He divided the 4.5 million troops of the axis powers alongside the sword be at Borders. He did this and three groups situated in the North Center or south. When Germany launched it's attacked the red army was unprepared. The lack of preparation led by Germany to win many battles this operation ended it with the battle of Moscow. Because of this over 60,000 Italian soldiers were taken as prisoners of war. One major battle being the Battle of Okinawa. The Battle of Okinawa is known to be the bloodiest battle of WWII causing many casualties on both sides. Before WWII Japan was quickly losing it's ability to support its people. The only option that Japan had was to expand to nearby territories such as china. After the Rape of Nanking occurred, the United States was in support of the Chinese in this side of the battle. This angered the Japanese and caused them to attack the United States. They bombed Pearl Harbour, Hawaii thus motivating the United States to fight back. The United States dropped the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima Japan. Later they dropped another atomic bomb on Nagasaki Japan. To The right is an image of the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima. The picture was taken by survivors fleeing the area at the time. This was not only a major turning point in the war but also history. The United States had just proven that they had nuclear atomic bombs causing a threat to everyone. Japan quickly surrendered after the atomic bombs were dropped. The atomic bombs are the reason that the United States is moving on to the next
