a) Todd has been taken to Puro’s Aunts house, in which they insist on Todd staying instead of a hotel. Todd is greeted with a friendly welcome and his bags are taken inside the house. Todd proceeds to sit down with Puro and his aunt and is asked many personal questions. Puros aunt asks Todd about his father’s occupation and if Todd was married or had a girlfriend. Todd appears uncomfortable with all of the questions and states that his last relationship recently ended due to his girlfriend’s interests in starting a family. Puro’s Aunt finds it odd and states that Todd should be married explains that Todd is “old enough to be a grandfather”.

Nurturing orientation concept, which can be defined as the “cross-cultural value describing the degree to which people in a culture emphasize competitive versus cooperative relations with other people” (McShane & Von Glinow, 2016, 40). Although both cultures have a high achievement orientation, in which “they appreciate people who are tough, and they favor the acquisition of money and material goods” (McShane & Von Glinow, 2016, 40), the struggles as a woman in India that Asha has described would compare to a culture that has a low achievement orientation. In low achievement cultures “they focus on human interaction and caring rather than competition and personal success” (McShane & Von Glinow, 2016, 40). Asha wanted personal success for herself, however, she was discouraged. She said that a girl in her position has her whole life mapped out already. In the movie, it appeared as if the men were expected to be the achievers, while the women were the nurturers. Puro was being trained to be a supervisor, but appeared to be uncomfortable with Todd suggesting that Asha could be the assistant manager in one scene. The MPI is around 9 minutes in this scene, however, Todd’s boss wants them to be at 6 minutes or lower. Todd responds by stating that it is almost impossible to get the numbers as low as Dave wants them. Dave insists that Todd needs to have the MPI down to a 6. Todd gets frustrated and calls his boss a “corporate slime ball”. Dave replies by giving Todd a warning and hangs up the phone. Todd steps out for a while and attempts to make a call to “Julie” back home. It appears by Todd’s reaction that he is calling her at an inconvenient time and that Julie does not really have time to speak to him. Todd asks Julie if someone is there with her, appearing to not receive an answer and subsequently, the call ends. Once Todd finally returns to the call center, he takes his anger out on Puro.
