In the Traffic of a Targeted City highlights the way of living in Hiroshima before and after the atomic bomb was dropped, and New York City in 1986. By doing this, the reader can get a deeper sense of what occurred during both of these time periods, and how the way the characters felt during both time periods are similar. The use of two different settings in In the Traffic of a Targeted City helps to show the similarities of these two time periods. The two main settings in this play are New York City in 1986 and Hiroshima in 1945. These two settings by themselves seem to not have much similarity, but when compared in this play, they are very alike. In the beginning of the play, it is describing New York City in the eyes of Joanna and Jonah.
