Compare And Contrast House Taken Over And The Fall Of The House Of Usher

Two authors, two stories, many differences, but many similarities. In theses gothic literature stories, the authors both give different meanings in each story. Both House Taken Over and Fall Of The House Of Usher have a pair of siblings as main character. In each narrative fiction, there is a story behind these characters. All very different. In one there is death, while in another there is survival. However, to fully experience the similarity and differences you must read between the lines. In House Taken Over, there are two siblings who live in a house they inherited. They believe the house has been taken over. They are not quite sure what it is, but it is referred to as “they”. The siblings start hearing noises in certain sections of the household. They then start abandoning objects and refuse to be in certain parts of the house. Slowly they refuse to go to anywhere in the house and decide to leave the house completely. The narrator in Fall Of the House Of Usher, has a long childhood friend named Roderick Usher who also has a twin sister Madeline. Roderick seems to be in bad condition as he is very sick with a mental illness and ask if the narrator can come visit him. In both stories the narrator, which is one of the characters, in a way says the characters are living a rather normal more boring life, ordinary in a way. There are two siblings, a brother and a sister whom live together alone. Each short story the brother and sister have a very good bond with each other, but there is a situation that comes up that involves the two. Later on into it, unexplainable more supernatural like things started occurring in the household of the siblings. For example, they start hearing strange noises. At the end of both stories, the reader, not the characters know the reasoning behind all of
