Two of Donald Trump’s and Gary Johnson’s views in the 2016 election Though Donald Trump and Gary Johnson agree on certain topics, they disagree on almost every military topic. One such topic is increasing the military budget. Donald Trump talks about how the size of the American military is equal to the end of World War II, about fifty years ago, and that most of the money spent on the military is wasted on the transportation of goods. If the budget American military was increased, he says, “I'm gonna build a military that's gonna be much stronger than it is right now.…

In hindsight, I realize that those life experiences have molded me into the caring, compassionate person that I am, just as Sanders’ life experiences have shaped him into the man, father, and writer he is today. Although Sanders learned different lessons from his experiences than I did, they were equally influential in his life. Sanders’ father was consumed with alcoholism and was unable to teach him normal life lessons a father would teach his son. Similarly, my friends did not necessarily provide me with a normal middle school experience, but thankfully both Sanders and I were able to learn and flourish from our challenging…

The most interesting detail I learned from the books is that a candidate being able to connect with voters is one of the most important things a candidate must do to win the presidency. It can be seen in the 1992 election as Clinton was able to connect with people and make them believe that change was possible. Bush in this election was unable to connect and so even though he was president when the Berlin Wall and the Soviet Union fell, he was unable to win the presidency. I believe this connects quite perfectly with the current election. Donald Trump was able to maybe not necessarily connect with voters, but he able to connect more than Hillary Clinton was able to.…

The 2016 presidential election was a unique election cycle in the sense that it did not follow normal election cycle protocol, and the result was one that has rarely occurred in American history, where a candidate wins the popular vote, yet loses the Electoral College and the presidency. A small majority of Americans wanted Secretary Clinton to be President, yet Mr. Trump won the Electoral College and 2016 Presidential Election. Even though Secretary Clinton won the popular vote, she still lost the general election. This is one of the few times in U.S. history where the popular vote did not coincide with the Electoral College decision. According to Thomas Patterson (2013), author of We the People, the elections of 1824, 1876, 1888, and 2000 were the only elections where a candidate won the presidency after losing the popular vote (p. 400).…
