I think Hatchet did a way better job of telling the story. In “A Cry in the Wild” they had to skip many things to keep the movie so it's not to long. And in Hatchet, the author lists all the details to give a great image in your mind. In “A Cry in the Wild” Brian is in the woods and a few days later he is getting rescued, and in Hatchet Gary Paulsen lists all of the important details to give the reader a great image of what's happening for his 54 days of survival. Also, Hatchet does a great job of foreshadowing. For example, Brian's mother gives him a Hatchet as a going away present and sure enough he crashed but he had his hatchet.
