Compare And Contrast Hatchet And A Cry In The Wild

Improved Essays
After reading Hatchet and watching A Cry in The Wild I think that A Cry in The Wild did a better job of imagery and foreshadowing what happened to the main character Brian in both of the adventures. And in both of them, they have a lot of similarities but very little differences. One of the similarities is that both of the pilots had a heart attack. Except that they died in different ways. In the movie the pilot just yelled and died, and in the book, the pilot yelled about his chest and passed away. Another similarity is that they both have “camps”, but in both of the titles, they call it home. One difference is that in A Cry in the Wild is that Brian cut down a tree. And in Hatchet he didn’t. And finally another difference is that their

I believe that “A cry in the wild”does a better job than the novel Hatchet. I think this because A cry in the wild explains what happened way better than the novel Hatchet. For an example when the pilot had a heart attack the movie made it look like he was in very bad pain but in the novel Hatchet it didn't even sound like he was hurting. Also the movie uses way more foreshadowing and imagery. Like when Brian throws his hatchet across his shelter it made sparks.…

But on the movie the bear attacked Brain and Brian killed the bear. Because the bear attacked Brian more than one time. That’s why Brain killed the bear. Than in the book when the plane comes and does not see Brian,Brian wants to commit suicide because the plan did not see him. It states it in chapter 13 “Still there on his side and the sun came up and when he opened his eyes, he saw the cuts on his arm, the dry hated what what he…

I believe that Hatchet doses a better job of telling the story. I believe this because, Hatchet gives more details than the movie “A Cry In The Wild” does. In Hatchet he went to sleep like three times after the plane had crashed in the pound. But in the movie he just went to sleep ones. Also in the novel Brien called the barriers gut barriers, but in the movie he called them throw-up barriers.…

I believe that Hatchet does a better job of telling the story. I believe this because Hatchet gives us more details than the movie. In the movie “A Cry in the wild” they change more things and it is not very similar to the book. In the book it says that Brian was in the plane and all the sudden he smelt something and did not understand then Brian knew what it was it the pilot passing gas. In the movie the only thing that the pilot did was clutched his shoulder but did not pass gas.…

To get the ball rolling In my opinion Hatchet does a great job of using imagery and foreshadowing then “A Cry in the Wild”. I believe that because in Hatchet when Brian Robinson was fighting the enormous moose it said about all the injuries the cuts, scrapes, wounds and scars. Think about how the moose with the caboose knocked him into the nasty, slimy, swampy, water, and after all of that Brian still was strong enough to pray the tornado will hit the moose caboose. The next way is, I practically didn’t notice when Brian threw the hatchet at the gnarly, dirty, porcupine and missed, then hit the rock I hardly noticed the sparks.…

There are probably a lot of people that will agree with me when I say surviving with nothing is no fun. Brian had to in order to survive in Hatchet. He had to make decisions he didn’t want to make in order to survive. I’m just as old as he would be then, and I have just the knowledge if not more. I watch videos of what to do in situations like that because you never know when you can use them.…

I think it is safe to say that if you are alone in the Canadian wilderness in an unknown situation it is no one’s ideal situation. But in the book Hatchet written by Gary Paulsen, that is what happens to 13 year old Brian Robeson when he is going to Canada to visit his dad. But when the plane he is flying in crashes because of the pilots sudden heart attack, He is stranded in the Canadian wilderness where Brian is isolated and stranded and has nothing but his hatchet and himself to try to survive. Even though Brian is stranded he manages to survive after a grueling fifty four days in the wilderness. Unlike Brian I do not think I would be able to survive because of my characteristics and my abilities to see day fifty four.…
