Compare And Contrast Hatchet And A Cry In The Wild

Decent Essays
I believe that Hatchet does a better job of telling the story. I believe this because Hatchet gives us more details than the movie. In the movie “A Cry in the wild” they change more things and it is not very similar to the book. In the book it says that Brian was in the plane and all the sudden he smelt something and did not understand then Brian knew what it was it the pilot passing gas. In the movie the only thing that the pilot did was clutched his shoulder but did not pass gas. In the book Brian did not find two baby bears after he killed the mama bear. In the book Brian got attacked by a big mama moose. In the movie they did give us a picture of what Brian looked like. They both talked about how Brian did not use the rifle. In the book

The book Hatchet told a better version of the story because it gives full detail of what Brian´s life was like and how he got stuck in the woods. The movie focused on a specific detail which was his mom and the affair. The book gives a foreshadowing image on his before and after life, while the movie told a story more of his before life and what was going on before the plane crash. ,The book hatchet told a better story in this case..…

First this essay will include point of differences. In the book a narrator told us the story but in the movie we saw the story though Turtle’s eyes. The point of view was a big difference since seeing the story through Turtle's eyes made the story seem a lot different. But with having Turtle tell the story it took away some key details. With the risk…

Hatchet I believe that Hatchet has done a better job at telling the story due to. It gave a greater number of detail in the story to support whoever reads the book to more competently understand the story. For, example when the moose attacked him it gave so much detail I could feel the pain, and torture he suffered, but in the movie it did not provide as much detail as the book. When the plane crashed I could just feel the water, and I could make out the green, and blue of the lake. In conclusion I believe that the book Hatchet does a better job at telling the story than the movie Cry In The Wild.…

In the novel, Roy is portrayed as a tragic hero with many flaws that bring about his own downfall. In the movie, Roy is presented as a victim of circumstances through unexpected events that push him off track of his goals. Because of the many discrepancies, the personality and the actions of characters in the novel tend to contradict the traits acquired from the book. Although these two forms of obtaining knowledge are significantly different, they both consist of similar plots that portray moral lessons to a completely different…

I didn't realize it until I read the topic for this essay but, none of the stories we read this year were based on happy events. Both Whale Talk and Crucible were both situated around difficult times for the characters involved. Both stories have a “bad guy” or a bully. The main characters of both stories had to overcome those people.…

The book Hatchet does a better job of telling the novel Hatchet than the movie “A Cry In The Wild”. One example of foreshadowing is when the hatchet hit upside the rock and made a spark and help give an image of what he needed to make the fire. Due to this in the book it explained how the hatchet hit the rock and helped him make the fire. On the other hand, in the movie, it did not say why it made it help him make the fire it just showed the Hatchet hitting the rock and him making the fire with it. I believe this because the book gave more details and said more about what happened.…

To begin with, Hatchet explains the story more thoroughly because it has additional details. One important detail used in both, the manuscript and the film, is when the tornado hit. In the book, the cyclone was more enhanced in detail and sounded like an F3 and with elaborate details such as, “the gusts whipped his hair and tore his shelter to bits.” In the movie, the tornado looked like it was just a slight gale was hardly enough wind to blow his hair. Even though Hatchet described the story better, I feel as though “A Cry in the Wild” does allow viewers to actually see and hear the character’s actions.…

Into the Wild vs Walden Into the Wild, a book about a man who ran away from childhood problems and decided to walk into the wilderness by himself after getting rid of all of his materialistic items including his car and money, and Walden, a book about a man who fled towards simplicity and solitude to understand what life was really about, are two incredible books. The stories are timeless and will likely still be talked about in fifty years. The protagonists, Thoreau and Chris, shared many similarities and differences. One big difference between them is their motives for leaving the city and going into the wilderness; Thoreau wanted to live life to the fullest, while Chris wanted to leave the problems at home. Both Chris and Thoreau rejected…

Literary Analysis Essay contrasting Into the Wild and Catcher in the Rye with phoniness of the adult world When someone is thinking of the idea of phoniness, they might recall something like diamonds, teenagers antics, or TV shows. However, in Into the Wild and Catcher in the Rye, the two main characters Chris McCandless and Holden Caulfield think of adulthood and adult society as phony and constantly criticize it. Even though they both try to move away and not experience adulthood, responsibilities, and society Holden Caulfield in Catcher in the Rye more clearly projects Phoniness in the adult world because of Chris’s lack of human interaction throughout Into the Wild. Holdens experiences of being alone in a large city, his negative mindset,…

I think it is safe to say that if you are alone in the Canadian wilderness in an unknown situation it is no one’s ideal situation. But when the plane he is flying in crashes because of the pilots sudden heart attack, He is stranded in the Canadian wilderness where Brian is isolated and stranded and has nothing but his hatchet and himself to try to survive. Even though Brian is stranded he manages to survive after a grueling fifty four days in the wilderness. Unlike Brian I do not think I would be able to survive because of my characteristics and my abilities to see day fifty four.…

Heart of Darkness and Things Fall Apart shows the apparent ways that Joseph Conrad and Chinua Achebe differ in ways of presenting Africa in the colonization era. Conrad and Achebe books shows the difference between an Afrocentric and Eurocentric viewpoint. Joseph Conrad’s depictions of the Africans as savages an in a very racist undertone causes Chinua Achebe to write Things Fall Apart through the viewpoint of the natives of different tribes to show Africans, not as uncivilized savages, but as members of a very hierarchy society that is not too much different from the Europeans. One way Conrad’s views about Europeans to make the look as if they were higher beings to the African tribes was in his description of Marlow.…
