Compare And Contrast Hatchet And A Cry In The Wild

Decent Essays
In my opinion, Hatchet, to me does a better job of explaining the story rather than “A Cry in the Wild”. I felt that the book used good foreshadowing and imagery better because it takes Brian a while to comprehend what happened in foreshadowing so he has time to do more major parts in the book until he comprehends what happened, and it describes what Brian saw with imagery.. An example of foreshadowing, “As he threw the hatchet a shower of sparks rained down.” Example from pg. 75. Later that night, Brian dreamed of Terry and his dad trying to show him how to make fire. An example of imagery is, “The smell was one of rot.” As it stated on pg. 74. These are referenced from the book. Although, in the movie he doesn’t really have foreshadowing

I believe that “Hatchet” does a better job telling the story more than ¨A cry in the Wild. I believe this because, they had more imagination to the book more that the movie. They had a moose in the book, the part where the blond haired man kissed Brian’s mom in the wagon. Brian had a friend named “Terry”. When Brian and Terry went to the park to play a pretend game like they were lost.…

Hatchet I believe that Hatchet has done a better job at telling the story due to. It gave a greater number of detail in the story to support whoever reads the book to more competently understand the story. For, example when the moose attacked him it gave so much detail I could feel the pain, and torture he suffered, but in the movie it did not provide as much detail as the book. When the plane crashed I could just feel the water, and I could make out the green, and blue of the lake. In conclusion I believe that the book Hatchet does a better job at telling the story than the movie Cry In The Wild.…

In the beginning of the story Brian started to get creative and make stuff like a shelter, a food storage, and a sphere to fish with. But later on he was starting to lose all the fish and berries, and his shelter was falling apart, he decided to cut himself with his hatchet to put him out of misery. He woke up the next morning and hated himself because he did that. He then just started to go to find other berry bushes and he moved to the other side of the lake for fish.…

I believe that “A cry in the wild”does a better job than the novel Hatchet. I think this because A cry in the wild explains what happened way better than the novel Hatchet. For an example when the pilot had a heart attack the movie made it look like he was in very bad pain but in the novel Hatchet it didn't even sound like he was hurting. Also the movie uses way more foreshadowing and imagery. Like when Brian throws his hatchet across his shelter it made sparks.…

Hatchet does a better job of telling the story. It has more details and explains everything so the audience can understand what’s happening. In the movie, things just happened and I could barely tell what was happening. The book gave details and facts which help the reader know what’s going on. I feel the novel displays the components most effectively because it explains every little tiny detail that helps the reader catch up and figure out what’s happening in the book.…

I think it is safe to say that if you are alone in the Canadian wilderness in an unknown situation it is no one’s ideal situation. But in the book Hatchet written by Gary Paulsen, that is what happens to 13 year old Brian Robeson when he is going to Canada to visit his dad. But when the plane he is flying in crashes because of the pilots sudden heart attack, He is stranded in the Canadian wilderness where Brian is isolated and stranded and has nothing but his hatchet and himself to try to survive.
