Compare And Contrast Hamlet And The Lion King

Hamlet ending v. The Lion King ending Have you ever seen the films The Lion King by Don Hahn or Hamlet by David Barron? If so have you ever noticed the ways that they each end? If not, Hamlet ends in a totally different fashion than what happened in the end of The Lion King. The Lion King is much happier by showing significantly less death, Justice being served to the uncle, and leaving room for viewer’s thought. The Lion King ends much more happily than Hamlet by showing less death, serving justice to the uncle, and by leaving room for thought. First, The end of The Lion King shows much less death than Hamlet where every main character is obliterated except for Horatio. In The Lion King when Simba encounters Scar in a vulnerable spot in the end he tells Scar that it would be too facile to kill him there. That is when Scar attacks suddenly then Simba throws him over the edge of the cliff. That is very precocious of Simba to do. He lets the hyenas kill Scar because he knows that it is not his duty to kill him. In Hamlet, hamlet kills his uncle to avenge his father. The difference between the two films is that in Hamlet the uncle is never seen interacting with the king during that present time. So the death occurred before the screen-play technically. To show the death, they would need to use the element of a flashback. While in The Lion King the king and the uncle interact in present time. This way it gives a better understanding of how well the two got along. In Hamlet, it is harder to determine how their relationship was before the death. All in all the uncle deserved what came to him in each film. Whether it be be because of action, saying, or both.Now in The Lion King revenge is served in a much more “kid friendly”, which sort of takes away from the original
