Many films in the entertainment industry show Shakespearean themes. However, the appropriateness of these films varies according to the audience. For the 9th grade class Romeo and Juliet is a more suitable choice than Gnomeo and Juliet because of the language, content, and ending.

Romeo and Juliet is more proficient for the 9th grade class because of the language. In the film Romeo and Juliet, the maturity level is for high school students because it is further advanced and harder to comprehend. This film is considered more mature and advanced because the story was during the Renaissance. Romeo and Juliet also challenges the class. Since the vocabulary is quite strong in the film, it is an excellent way for us to expand our vocabulary for future references as students. On the other hand, in Gnomeo and Juliet, the maturity level is extremely lower because the movie is dulled down and was made specifically for children. Similarly, majority of the original story was changed, so children could fully understand the concept of the original, Romeo and Juliet. Likewise, Gnomeo and Juliet does not challenge us because the dialogue throughout the film is very dull and unintellectual to a 9th grade class. The films’ vocabulary is very simple and modern. Therefore, Gnomeo

This is because of the language, content, and ending. Romeo and Juliet is more mature, and has an advanced vocabulary. Also, Romeo suffered from his consequences by being banished and Tybalt’s death was more realistic. Furthermore, Romeo and Juliet died because they didn’t want to live without each other and they were married very early compared to Gnomeo and Juliet. Both Romeo and Juliet and Gnomeo and Juliet are similar in many ways but they are also very different. In reality, Romeo and Juliet is more beneficial for the 9th grade class which is why it is more appropriate to be shown to the

Even in pop-culture today there are still new renditions of this play coming out including the big screen. It seems to be able to reach every age of readers/viewers and unless one is to pay close attention to the story then they will definitely miss the most obvious fact. In Romeo and Juliet it is almost impossible for the “two star crossed lovers” to be able to actually be in love due to the fact that they…

A difference between the 2 movies are in the newer movie Juliet suicide's with Romeo’s gun she picks up the gun a shot's it at her head. While in the older movie Juliet kills herself with Romeo’s sword she stabs herself in the abdominal area with the sword. A similarity in this event is that Juliet still dies regardless of how she kills herself and she dies with Romeo. Shakespeare's original intension of this scene was to show how much Juliet loved Romeo and how loyal she is she would even take her own life. Both movies do a good job in depicting this event but in my opinion the older movie does a better job.…

I believe that this story is mind opening and educational with decision making. Romeo and Juliet had a tragic love and because of it Romeo died at 15 and Juliet died at 14. Some people would say it should be excluded from our school curriculum because it is sad and heart breaking but I think it should included for that reason and more. Romeo and Juliet are fifteen and fourteen so high schoolers would be able to relate to the struggles of having feelings.…

Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare is known to be one of the most relevant tragic love stories, even as it is read over 400 years after it was first published. Because of this relevancy, in 1996 the play was adapted into a film directed by Baz Luhrmann. The film transformed Shakespeare’s original into a more modern context, attempting to keep that relevancy in an era with a different society and contrasting morals. Through this translation of text to film, Luhrmann has changed certain aspects to adjust the audience’s perspectives on the story and on certain characters and has therefore lost some of the original meaning of the text. A significant change created was how the audience was positioned to view Romeo.…

Teenage Rebellion Teenage rebellion is a common theme throughout literature, movies, as well as song lyrics. This is also a theme in Shakespeare’s masterpiece “Romeo and Juliet”. I think teenage rebellion is a popular theme seeing that some teens could relate the characters in the literature, movie , or song. I think “Romeo and Juliet” can compare to Disney, Dreamworks “Shrek”. I think this as there are many of the same situations about rebellion between the two movies.…

Amongst all the violence present in Romeo and Juliet a young lady, Juliet Capulet, and gentlemen, Romeo Montague, manage to form a love which is unbreakable. Seemingly perfect, the two are part of rivalry families which keep them separated. Risking their lives to see each other, secretly getting married and almost being caught all come to an end when the two tragically kill themself. Constantly throughout the play violence and hatred are in the air. Due to this, Romeo and Juliet is not appropriate for a ninth grade audience on the basis of the amount of violence in its content.…

What the characters say is heavily relied on to convey meaning in Zeffirelli’s version, just like Shakespeare ’s play. What the characters say is straightforward and expected to be understood by the audience. In both versions, Shakespeare’s script is followed almost word for word and characters talk as though they are in the era of Romeo and Juliet. However, to suit the modern audience, Baz Luhrmann heavily relies on symbolic codes, character exaggeration and cleaver filmic techniques to convey meaning.…

Romeo and Juliet are both immature, as shown by their interpretation of their love. They believe that their first love is who they are meant to be with, and the fall in love far too quickly, in Act 1 Scene 4. This scene shows immaturity because both of them believe they are deeply in love, when they only had one moment together. Romeo is especially immature, in that he forgets Rosaline so quickly, and moves on without realising his mistake of falling in love to quickly. This immaturity leads to the proclaiming of their love for one another on the balcony, and eventually their hasty marriage, in Act 2 Scene 2 and Act 2 Scene 6.…

In Shakespear’s and Franco Zeffirelli’s Romeo and Juliet, there are many similarities, but there are also many different substantial differences that can change the impression the viewer may get if they only watch the movie without reading the play. To begin, there are many similarities between Zeffirelli 's and Shakespeare 's Romeo and Juliet. One similarity is that Romeo is very moody; in the beginning of the movie, Romeo can be seen frequently slumped over and talking in a very downcast manner. Similarly, in the play, Romeo is found by Benvolio laying moping around saying, “Should without eyes see pathways to his will!” (I.i.162).…

To begin, some people may think that the play, Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, should not be taught in school, while others think it should. Although the idea of reading Romeo and Juliet in English class may make students groan and imagine the worst, there are many benefits as to why reading such a difficult and popular type of literature exist. In my opinion, I think Romeo and Juliet should be included in a school’s curriculum because of how helpful it could be to those students. There are many benefits, including that students will have a better understanding of how to step out of their comfort zone and will allow students to understand more complex pieces of literature in life. Also, students will learn new vocabulary and learn about the 15th century society and customs.…
