Do you know what one of the biggest rivalries between two sports is? Many would say it is the rivalry between American football and futball, which we call soccer in the United States. These two sports have been against each other for a long time. Some say that there are many similarities. However, the two sports are quite different. One sport is all about the foot and the other one, not so much. In soccer, the main point of the game is to keep the ball moving towards your goal using your feet. You can only use your hands if you are the goalkeeper or for throw ins. In football, you throw and run with the ball in you hands. The only time that you use your feet is when you punt, kick off, or kick an extra point or field goal. These two types of playing …show more content…
Soccer players play much less protected only wearing shin guards. The only similarity is that both sports teams wear cleats. Football cleats have an extra stud in the front of the cleat. Of course, there is never enough protection, and each sport can be dangerous in creating injuries. While soccer is very popular in many countries around the world, currently, football is the most popular sport in the United States. Millions of Americans watch high school, college and professional football games at the fields as well as on television. However, soccer has started to become more popular in the US. More and more kids are playing every year. Club teams are on the rise. Soccer in the US may just end up like almost every country in the world, soccer crazy!
As you can see, there are many differences between football and futball (American soccer). One sport mostly uses their feet, while the other one mostly uses their hands. The rules of the games are quite different. One sport uses a lot of protection while the other uses nearly none at all. Futball might just become as popular as football for youth in the
