Compare And Contrast Finland Country

Improved Essays
Hei! Finland is a great country and although it has many differences from Florida, it has many similarities also. Our country and state of Florida in general is very different and we don’t have the same everyday life as Finnish people. There are more similarities than you would think, like in the types of agriculture we have, what we celebrate, and how our families are similar.
First of all, the two areas have very different types of landscape. In Finland, the landscape consists of lots of hills and mountains. There are also lots of lakes. Florida’s landscape is different. Here we have a tropical climate with bodies of water, such as the Pacific Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico. It is also very warm all throughout the year and winters rarey get lower than 65 degrees. In Finland they have lots of greenery, rain, and cold winters that get as low as 13-17 degrees.

Here in Florida it is common to watch football on Sundays, eat almost any kind of food, and simply have two parents and children. In Finland that is not the same in some ways, such as Cohabitation. Cohabitation is when two people that aren’t married still live in the same house and raise kids together. This is common when someone has been through a divorce aand decides that they want to raise another family. Although here we have sports that mostly take place outside due to our tropical climate, since they have more of a cold climate, there are sports like ice hockey, skiing, and ice swimming. The foods we eat are sort of different too. In Finland they eat lots of pastries, breads, and meats. Here we eat a lot of everything, such as seafood, breads, soups, spicy food, sushi, and much more.
Although our country and Finland are far away, we still have common and uncommon characteristics with the way we do things, what we eat, what we celebrate, and the way our families live. Finland is a great country and Finnish people have a lot of reasons to love

Based on the Finnish system of education, Partanen observes that the United States would be well served to consider some, if not all, of the inconsistencies between American and Finnish education systems (979-981). Addressing an argument she believes will arise against her position, she discusses the size of Finland compared to America. Besides size, America has much greater ethnic diversity than does Finland. Partanen refutes these problems by bringing up that most education is run at the state-level, an area about the size and population of Finland (981). Ultimately, Partanen believes that Americans need to take an honest look at the inequality of education and consider the negative impact it is making on our education system…

John Fante’s masterpiece, Ask the Dust, exquisitely describes the city of Los Angeles during the early 1900s. Very seemingly, there is a strange parallel between modern day Florida and early 1900s Los Angeles. There are many ways that the two places are similar, such as the people who inhabit them, the climate, and how they are characterized and viewed as places of paradise. Los Angeles seems to be thought of as a sunny paradise, where dreams could come true and where the old could die peacefully, feeling like they had to accomplished everything in life. It was a fantasy and so many people fell for that fantasy.…
