Japan and Europe Feudalism is both a political and social system that first begun in Europe. Feudalism started because the kings were too weak to drive out the invaders and because of that the roman empire fell and the middle age began, and because of the breakdown of law in society. later on Japan developed a feudal system that was similar to the European system. The emperor in Japan also became weak, regional landowners gained power, therefore Japan became lawless and dangerous! Japanese feudalism was based on the idea of Chinese philosophy , while European got their ideas from Roman Imperial laws and customs. Even though the feudal system was organized the same way the classes in each Japan and Europe were named differently for example knights in Europe ere known as samurai in Japan. The Knights and Samurai might have had different rules or laws, but they both served or worked the same in the feudal system. also women were very different on both sides . While the European women had no rights, the Japanese women had a little more power and they had chance to become a samurai if they wanted to. There are several reasons for the decline of feudalism in Japan and Europe. Feudalism declined in Europe because crusades, nobles became weaker, and peasants' revolt. In Japan feudalism declined was because of the three powerful daimyo known as the three unifiers. But most importantly farming and agricultural became more important focus than the war.
