Compare And Contrast Essay On The Treasure Of Lemon Brown

The story called “The Treasure of Lemon Brown” has a main character called Greg. The story called “The Moustache” has a main character called Mike. I am going to compare and contrast both of them.

First, I’m contrasting Greg to Mike. Greg is a fourteen year old who has trouble in math and wants to join a basketball team, “His father… lecturing endlessly about his poor efforts in math.” and “It wasn’t often the Scorpions took on new players, especially fourteen year olds…”, states “The Treasure of Lemon Brown”. Unlike Greg, Mike is a seventeen year old, “At the last minute Annie couldn’t go...have to break her date with Handsome Harry Arnold…”. He wanted to go to the movies on a double date with his girlfriend, Cindy along with Harry and Annie, but got canceled due to Annie, “... was invaded by one of those twenty-four hour flu bugs…”. Mike’s mom studied him, “ ‘ I still say a seventeen year old has no business wearing a moustache.’”, she didn’t approve of him wearing a moustache. In contrast to Greg, Mike has no trouble in math, nor wants to join a basketball team.

Both Greg and Mike are still in school, in “The Treasure of Lemon Brown” it states, “He hadn’t been allowed to pay high school ball…”. In “The Moustache” it states, “... half price admission for high school couples, seventeen or younger.”, Mike is seventeen and is dating Cindy, so Greg and Mike are both in high school. Greg helped Lemon Brown and learned a lesson, “ ‘ Every man got a treasure.’”, Mike helped his grandma by giving her peace. In “The Moustache” it states, “ ‘ Nana, this is Mike your grandson, not Mike your husband.’”, but his grandma shushed him. Mike’s grandma confused him with her husband, “ ‘ … I never had the chance to ask you to forgive me… ‘ I forgive you, Meg.’”. Mike had helped his grandma by giving her what she wanted forgiveness just like Greg to Lemon

King Lear and Paradise Lost bring deception and betrayal to the table with Adam and Eve eating forbidden fruit and King Lear going through hell just to be treated poorly by who he thought were his best daughters. The first story to be recognized is King Lear. King Lear is king of Britain and he is getting older.…

In both stories, there is a different moral. In Lemon Brown the moral is that treasure doesn't have to be gold, it could be something very important to you, even though it may seem almost worthless for others. The moral of Thank You Ma'm is that you shouldn't steal no matter what you want, you could always try and ask nicely. There are many similarities between Lemon Brown and Thank You Ma'm. For example some of these similarities are that there are is one boy in each story that is around fourteen…

Comparison Essay Challenging situations are perfect opportunities to learn about someone's true character. In the stories, “Survival” by John Hersey, and Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain, both main characters, Tom Sawyer and John F. Kennedy encounter difficult and trying situations. John F. Kennedy was the heroic character and Tom Sawyer showed us the ups and downs of our adventurous side. “Survival”, by John Hersey, was a difficult book to get through because it tells the true story about events that occurred in World War II.…

For instance, when he suffered from losing the only family member he had, ““I traveled around, and one time I come home, and there was this letter saying Jesse [his son] got killed in the war. Broke my heart, it truly did.” Jesse, his son, passed after his wife died years before and clearly he was devastated and suffered a huge “down” at that point in his life. Contrary, Lemon Brown had one very positive thing in his life. For example, he had his special treasure, ““I’m not looking for your treasure,’ Greg answered, smiling.…

The “Shadow of the Galilean”, written by Gerd Theissen, is a novel that shows the quest of the historical Jesus in narrative form. This novel does a good job at bringing in the historical study recorded in the gospels with a fictitious character, Andreas, who is from Sepphoris during the first century. Andreas is introduced as he is being interrogated by the Romans. Here it begins to detail some of his life, as it comes out he deals in fruit and grain, was in Jerusalem for Pentecost, and that his father is a Decurion. As the interrogation continues the romans do not believe that he was not demonstrating because he was in the crowd.…
