The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, a novel about two gangs and a boy named Ponyboy. Ponyboy has a rough life between his parent dying in a car crash and him having to live with his brothers. Especially Ponyboy being a greaser (a gang) that does not get treated right. The socs another gang are the west side-rich kids. Ponyboy Curtis is a 14-year-old kid he has light-brown, almost red hair and greenish- gray eyes. Ponyboy's hair is very long and always greased perfect. Pony boys hair is longer than most of the greasers, most boys where there's squared off in the back and long in the front and sides, but Ponyboy is a greaser and he's neighborhood hardly ever get haircuts. If you can picture a “little dark puppy that has been kicked too many times , and lost in a crowd of strangers” then you will have Johnny. Johnny was the youngest out of the gang he has big black eyes and a dark tanned faced. His hair was jet black and heavily greased and combed to the side, but it was so long that is fell in shaggy bangs across his forehead. He always had a nervous, suspicious look in his eye, and that beating he got from the socs didn't help matter. Johnny is like every kids brother. Johnny's dad was always beating him up, and his mother ignored him, except when she mad at something and then you could hear her yelling at him clear down to ponyboy’s house. Johnny hates his mom yelling then when he gets whipped and Johnny has never known love and affection
