The “Great” Change “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness”. The Declaration of Independence brought forth problems between the American Colonies and Great Britain. The first continental congress met in 1774 to discuss and write complaints about how Britain was treating the American Colonies. The way that they were being governed was unfair and unjust so the created the declaration. In response to these problems the Constitution was ratified on June 21, 1788. “For quartering large bodies of armed troops among us” Declaration of Independence.
