I have traveled to Mexico many times on business and vacation. The life style and culture is very different than the United States because Americans are always in a hurry to get somewhere. American sometime put business before family but in Mexico and other countries family comes first. Yes, rules do vary when conducting business in Mexico. The Mexicans culture must trust you before they conduct business with you or your company.
When you look at how different the two countries are in the value of time. The Spanish believe that being late is ok because things happen in life that can make you late. It is acceptable in the Spanish culture to be late. But if you are in the United States your appointment will be cancelled and you may have to pay
