Many teens today chose to treat others with violence and unfair treatment. From physical to mental kids make the choice to hurt others. Teens don’t think about what they do and how it is affecting the way people see them. From the article “Justice is served: MacNeill, 57, likely to die in Jail” MacNeill a father killed his wife to hide his affair from his wife now looks for life in prison. His own children are pleased with his punishments. They see their father as a killer and no longer their father. For just one unjust act it changed MacNeill’s life forever. What brings all these guests together was they all were convicted of murder but never punished for what they had done. Justice Wargrave was there to punish them for what each of the guests had done. “It is abhorrent to me that an innocent person or creature should suffer or die by any act of mine. I have always felt strongly that right should prevail” (Christie 286). Justice Wargrave sees every one of the guests as a murderer and should be punished for what unjust act they had committed. Along with that each guest saw each other as a murderer who was killing each other off. Teens today should take from this story and what Justice Wargrave not for killing but realizing it isn’t okay to do something unmerited and those who do shouldn’t be able to slide by and not be punished for what they had done. Teens today should not only not do something unjust but step up to responsibility before it gets out a hand and therefore people seeing you as a different person who doesn’t take

Time after time, generation after generation, there have always existed criminals. Burglars, drug dealers, captors, etc., but perhaps the most unforgivable of convicts are murderers. They "kill for the thrill", yet even more shocking is when the face behind the killer is that of an adolescent. What drives a child, who is still dependent on their parents for basic necessities, to kill another being? Whatever the reason may be, the consequences should be dire.…

Lastly, juveniles have a background or grew up in a bad environment that causes them to murder, or cause other heinous crimes. For example, Brandon McInerney was tried as an adult for shooting his former classmate, Larry King. He shot King in the head twice. Sandy Banks first highlights that Brandon McInerney is an athlete, who grew up in a bad environment from his parent’s home and is mostly teased in school by his friends because Larry King had a crush on him. “Brandon was a strapping athlete from a violent home [...]…

Textual evidence indicates that teens cannot control their anger and it leads them to commit murder, an example can be found in an article published by Daily Mail where a “12-year-old boy murder his six-month-old baby brother by stabbing him 17 times… The mother told police the boy had not been at school that day as she had an argument with him” (Mail Online). The youngster also told police “I was in the room for a couple of minutes, I was among to her my brother by stabbing him 17 times” (Mail Online). From this article, it goes to show that juveniles are well aware of that they are going to do before they commit the crime, and the anger has control over him. This is true because Jennifer Jenkins wrote an article “On Punishment and Teen Killers,” where she stated, “As a high school teacher, I have worked lovingly with teens all my life and I understand how hard it is to accept the reality that a 16 or a 17 yearly is capable of forming such requisite criminal intent” (Jenkins, 4).…

Adam Liptak’s article, Locked Away Forever? The Supreme Court Is Considering Whether Life Imprisonment For Teens Offenders Constitutes ‘Cruel and Unusual’ Punishment, asserts that in most cases, “juveniles cross the line, and they have to be treated as adults and punished as adults” (Liptak 14). Age does not determine maturity, nor does it determine responsibility. There is no telling whether someone means it or not when they do something they are not supposed to do. When a child commits murder or rape, people say it is no big deal because they are just kids and were not thinking straight.…

Children are usually seen as innocent, as they play around with others and are just balls of energy. Often seen as simply kids who have no experience in the outside world until they grow older. However, sometimes a child’s play can go wrong and can affect another’s life. When these incidents happen where a death is involved, it’s often easy for society to look at the offender as a murder who should be in prison for the rest of their life despite what age the offender may be. While juveniles committing heinous crimes should be punished, they should also be given the chance to rejoin society at an appropriate age; therefore juveniles who redeem themselves should be able to get released earlier and be able to put their life together.…

The article On Punishment and Teen Killers by Jennifer Bishop Jenkins speaks about how we here in the United States although we do give teenage murderers very big sentences that make them spend the rest of their life in prison we still respect their human rights. We do not imprison children nor torture and hurt the offenders, we simply are not letting their crimes go in vain. The authors purpose is to let us know that all though many people believe that teenagers who commit crimes should have a smaller sentence because of the way and the time it takes for their minds to develop. In fact she even states the following, "If brain development were the reason, then teens would kill at roughly the same rates all over the world. They do not.…

All eyes were glued to the judge as he said the words that would change the juvenile’s life forever. He was being sentenced to life in prison as a part of a crime he committed with his friends. Many young adolescents some as young as 9 , are being forced to go to prison for long periods of time on an almost daily basis. Minor’s should not be allowed to be tried as adults and to be sentenced to life in prison, as an adult environment would be to brutal for them to cope with. In addition, most kids are very susceptible to peer pressure and often act on impulse in large groups.…
