Politically wise, these two civilizations were dissimilar. China had many wars and battles, trying to invade and conquer other lands. Egypt had a firm belief in life after death. They had a whole religion based around the gods, who each controlled some part of nature, such as Nut (sky goddess) and Geb (earth god). They also have gods related to ideals important to humans, such as Thoth (god of knowledge) and Bes (dwarf god protector of mothers, children, and childbirth). One story in Egyptian mythology is that Ra, the sun god, takes a trip every night through the Duat, or Underworld, to fight Apophis, otherwise known as Chaos, to maintain peace in the world. This was thought to be a recurring cycle, done every night, like everything else in life. Likewise, China had a religion called Daoism, also known as Taoism, that was quite philosophical. It was meant to show how to keep human behavior in accordance with the alternating cycles of nature. This means the Ancient Chinese also believed in nature repeating itself, like the Ancient Egyptians. The Ancient Chinese also believed in life after death, or at least questioned the possibility of there being something. They definitely believed in spirits, leaving shrines and special trinkets/tokens.
