Walt Disney World Versus Universal Studios Orlando Orlando, Florida is the most popular tourist destination for families and teens seeking theme parks. From the time I was a little girl, the most exciting part of the year was when my mom would reveal our summer trip. It was either Universal and Islands of Adventure or Disney World; and both were equally exciting. Out of the multitude of Orlando theme parks, Universal Studios and Walt Disney World are the two most attended. Although they do have some similarities, such as rides and family friendliness, they are both very different. First off, when a family arrives in Orlando, they will need a hotel to stay in. Disney World has four theme parks: Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom. A one-day pass for Magic Kingdom is $105 and each other park is $97. A one day park hopper, the best option economically, is $130. Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon are perfect choices for a summer water park trip; Each are are about $60 for one day. If a family plans on visiting parks for a multitude of days, overall prices are lowered in a bundle pack. However, prices do range a few dollars depending on the popularity of the day one attends. Both parks take advantage of Holiday seasons to add a little extra fun for families to enjoy. The circular organization of the "lands" is a common theme with most of the parks. Both companies raise prices for popular days and parks, and lower the cost depending on the length of stay. For instance, it would be a bad idea to go to Magic Kingdom in the middle of the summer as the prices are at their peak. To top off a great day, each Disney park performs a magical show involving fireworks, characters, and often lights.
