By 1797, the two major political parties were the Federalists and the Republicans. Federalists were those who had supported Washington’s policies, and the Republicans were those who had opposed his policies. By definition, abortion is “any abnormal end to growth or development, as of an embryo or organ” (Dictionary). Many people are against this because it can be considered murder, because you are ending the life of someone else. Republicans oppose abortion funding. They promote adoption and abstinence, not abortion clinic referrals. They want a Human Life Amendment added to the Constitution and they want this amendment to ban abortion altogether.
