This remake of "The Crucible" written by Arthur Miller is truly marvelous in the way that it depicts what was written in the book and added splashes of visual information to help the audience understand the cruel reality of the Salem witch hunt. This film is two hours and five minutes long and was first released on the 27th of November in 1996. The two main actors were Daniel Day-Lewis as John Proctor the protagonist who is a reputation and name obsessed character who has difficulties forgiving himself, and Winona Ryder as Abigail Williams a young and ignorant girl in love with a married man.

It is easy to see that he is battling his inner obsession with his reputation and good name and that he can't forgive himself for what he did. You can hear the resentment in his words towards Abigail but also his love towards her which makes him seem like he is constantly battling himself. Also his ability to really get into character no matter his situation was really cool to watch. An example of this was the quote used above, "Leave me my name!" he screamed towards the end of the film and you could really hear and see the anger and pain that he had stored within him. Another honorable mention would be Paul Seofield's Judge Thomas Danforth where he was really stern, serious and upright about everything he did. His face was always plain as though he had no emotion or compassion towards any of the victims he was sentencing to
