Compare And Contrast Creon And Schindler

Schindler, the Modern Tragic Hero Centuries ago a King named Creon who was very prideful and made some mistakes in his rein as King. Oscar Schindler was a business man who at first slaved Jews to work for him but later on went to save hundreds of Jews. Creon and Schindler ruled much differently but has similar characteristics of a tragic hero. These similar traits are flaw or error in judgement, reversal of fortune, fate was more than deserved, excessive pride, discovery of recognition. First, Oscar Schindler's flaw was that he was very greedy and took advantage of the Jews. He put them to work in his factory making pots and pans. He seen them as a work force and not humans, he just put them to work. As the movie progressed he realized the power and had and put it to better use and began saving Jews from concentration camps. He was hunted for helping the Jews and saving them. After the surrender of the nazis, he had to leave everything. This part of the story of Oscar Schindler is the reversals of fortune since even after he saved lives and the good he ended up doing he was still chased and hunted. Then, when Oscar was finally done running he settled down in South America and attempted the business life again but never succeeded after the war. Nothing succeeded after the war, him and his wife got divorced and the many businesses he tried never made it. This is similar to Creon. It makes them both similar since Oscar lost his wife and everything else and Creon lost his wife and son. Throughout the movie as we begin to see the personality of Oscar Schindler, he is very prideful in himself. He brags about himself and he knows the right people to be friends with. Just as Creon was very prideful in himself. Creon was not very open to other ideas and what people wanted. He was so prideful in himself that he thought he was always
