Compare And Contrast Creeps And Stalks Me Poem

Decent Essays
This poem is on the state of mind, fear. In this poem, I want the reader to feel the terror and anxiety that I am trying to convey through this poem. I want to use words that make my fear seem like a bully or an abductor. The first line in the poem is “my fear stalks me”. I also use the word “creeps” in the second line. Using stalk instead of trail or follow and creep instead of sneak or watch seemed more effective in this poem. They both have the same denotative meaning but the connotation is different. Creep and watch have very different feels to them and emotions connected to them. “Creeps” and “stalks” sets the mood for the poem to be dark, scary and gives me chills. When I think of someone stalking and creeping, I think of harm and feeling

I have never been one for poetry. Only recently did Louder Than a Bomb (2008) expose what true slam poetry is to me and introduce me to the depth of what poetry can be. When looking at the visual bio assignment and the compare and contrast essay there were many parallels that I noticed. When we were first given the visual bio assignment in class you being to emphasize the importance of making the title slide an eye catcher. When doing the title slide, we had to take in consideration of color choice and word selection to really get our readers attention. When given the compare and contrast assignment, the same guidelines followed just in a different way. With the essay we are not using the visual aspect to help capture our audience attention, instead we have to take that same concept and now use our words to be the capturing factor to help grab our reader’s attention as if they are looking at a visual.…

Keats and Blake alike are few in a long list of influential Romantic poets who defined a generation. Two of their poems, ‘To Autumn’ and ‘London’ respectively both share the similar quality of being ‘deceptively’ simple in structure, but strewed within their rigid and formulaic structure, are layers and layers of symbolism and allegory. Though at a first glance, there is quite a lot separating the two distinct poems, but as pieces of thought-provoking, and personal literature, how well do both of these poems convey the true thoughts and feelings of either poet. London on the surface of things is a typically written poem. It consists of four quartets, with an ABAB rhyme scheme, the poem is almost written like a “Song of Experience”, which is heavily contrasted by the dark theme that is prevalent in the poem.…

Rather than a defined period of someone’s life, childhood is an abstract period created only when one can look back at it. In order to explore themes such as remembrance and childhood, it is crucial to consider linguistic features and the communications of emotions or feelings such as warmth. It is believed that copious poems all portray the subject of innocence of the younger; poems including ‘Prayer Before Birth’, ‘Half Past Two’, ‘Piano’ and ‘Hide And Seek’ are no exception to being exemplars of poems which typify the theme of remembrance and childhood, which could be further supported by the poems ‘Remember’ and ‘Poem at Thirty-Nine’. Seeing as that they all convey their memories in conflicting ways with child-like characteristics, each…

Compare and contrast the way the poets explore the theme of discrimination in ‘Disabled’ and ‘Still I Rise’. Both poets portray the theme of discrimination expressing their memories about key moments in their lives. Owen faced World War 1 at a young age and saw enough pain and suffering for more than a lifetime. On the other hand, he still gained experience from this and shared the loneliness of discrimination with other people. Angelou, however was abused at a very young age which saw her muted for over 5 years; in this time she was isolated from everyone until she found poetry as a medium to express her thoughts and feelings about discrimination.…
