When comparing the characters in William Shakespeare's Hamlet and Disney's The Lion King, they are very similar. Hamlet is a play about a depressed prince of Denmark that causes a lot of problems. The Lion King is about a lion cub who has a bad past as a child but grows up to be a king. When specifically looking at Claudius and Scar, they are both similar in that they are disloyal, selfish and devious.
One way that Claudius and Scar are similar is that they are both disloyal. An example of Claudius being disloyal is when he says “By letters conjuring to that effect, the present death of Hamlet. Do it England.” (IV. III. 64). This example shows that Claudius is being very disloyal to Hamlet by trying to get rid of him before he is able to be king and simply cheating him out of his future. Another example of Claudius being disloyal is when he says “It is the poison’d cup, it is too late.” This is a very good example because he is letting his new wife drink a cup of poison, meant …show more content…
An example of when Claudius is being devious is when he says “As make your bouts more violent to that end/ and that he calls for drink, I’ll have prepared him/ a chalice for the purpose holds there.” (IV.VII. 71-73). This is such a good example because it shows that he is planning every last detail of Hamlet’s death to make sure something doesn't fall through. An example of Scar being devious is when he planned the stampede to kill Mufasa and he put Simba right in the middle of it so he could blame Simba for Mufasa’s death. This example shows that Scar planned every last detail up to distracting Simba with the chameleon and by telling him to practice his roar a few days beforehand. So he knew very well that simba would get distracted and start roaring at the chameleon which would then cause him to be right in the middle of the stampede and then Mufasa would come to save him and end up being
