Four Out of Nine Hundred
To start, there are many different versions of the Cinderella story. Some can be somewhat new, some can be incredibly old, such as Yeh-Shen which originated in China and is over 1000 years old! I have 3 Cinderella stories and 1 poem titles “Interview” that I will be comparing and contrasting. So let’s get started.
First, I will be comparing the stories. In Ashenputtel and Yeh-Shen they both have step-sisters, and mean ones at that. They also both have a step-mom, also mean. In Ashenputtel, Yeh-Shen, and The Algonquin Cinderella, the Cinderella character is stopped from going somewhere. In Ashenputtel and Yeh-Shen again, they have a fairy god object. Well, that’s just a few similarities.
