Levels of Education are somewhat different in Chile than they are in the U.S. In the United States, children go to preschool or kindergarten when they are anywhere between the ages 3-5. After kindergarten, kids go to elementary school, which is grades 1-5. In sixth grade, kids are considered to be in junior high school, or middle school. In ninth grade, the students are in high school. After high school, a vast majority of people in the United States go to college at different universities. In Chile, kids go to preschool just like they do in the U.S. After preschool, children go to primary school which is grades 1-8. They do not have a middle school like we do in the United States. In Chile, they call high school, secondary school, and refer to college as Higher Education. While the education in Chile and the U.S. is the same, they are called different names. Children in Chile go to grade school (1-12) for 12 years, which is the same amount of time that children in the U.S attende grade school.

The United States and Chile both put heavy importance on their education, so it is understandable as to why their budgets are so high. Although both budgets are very significant, the United States pays a much larger chunk of money to ensure education rates. In Chile, about $12.4 billion is spent on furthering education and teaching abilities. In the United States, around $1 trillion is put forth to facilitate educational ability. When the population of students in school is taken into consideration, the United States forks over a much larger amount of money compared to Chile. This fact provides a stark difference between the two
