Time is the key to everything in life. It shows that a fictional story can come from anyone, no matter what age they are or what time period they come from. It also shows that there is a big difference in the works coming from an author of the victorian era and works coming from an author of the Modern era. Proof of this are the lives of both Victorian author, Charles Dickens, and Modern writer, Cassandra Clare.
Charles Dickens, who was an English writer and social critic, was born on February 7, 1812 in Portsmouth, England. He was considered the one of the best novelist during his time period and still is to this day. Even in the Modern time his books are deemed great Classics. Scrooged, an irrefutable 90’s film about a cynical, sarcastic, and terribly witty Frank Cross deals with the turmoil of life and death in a breaking-the-fourth-wall film adaptation of A Christmas Carol. Scrooged is an interesting adaptation, compared to the usual animated family-friendly films that pay homage to the Christmas spirit. This film is not only different than the run of the mill film that copies the novel word for word, it also carries the darker tones of the classic Charles Dickens story that is unusual in contemporary Christmas films. The movie is interesting because the plot involves a live show of A Christmas Carol, while the main character Frank, deals with the same plot in his own modern reality.…

“Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas” (Calvin Coolidge). To some people, Christmas Spirit means to be jolly, giving, and praising, but to the main character, Ebenezer Scrooge, in A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, Christmas Spirit is split into three forms: Past, Present, and Future. These spirits come to show Scrooge what his life was like, is like, and will be like without Christmas Spirit. The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come plays the main part in transforming Scrooge into a joyful, spirited man by convincing him to live a better life, fulfilling the lessons taught by the other Spirits, and inspiring him to have more…
