During heavy snow or rain days, businesses slow or even close down because travel becomes dangerous. Also, people do not go outside often because the temperature is usually low around freezing temperature during fall and winter. Summer is the only time when businesses fully open. Also, the population here is mostly old people, so businesses are not very active. There are only one or two shopping malls in most cities except for the few growing cities and the capital. Furthermore, most people live here like to celebrate holidays indoor with their families, since it usually cold, rain or snow outside. On the contrary, California is much more active and eventful. Businesses rarely close down due to weather problems, and many shops open 24/7 for people to go to. The population here is larger, so there are many events for people to participate. Some of the events come from the cities themselves or schools for student and family to join. Some of these events mainly focus on holidays and bring people from their neighborhoods together. Many people live in California like to party outdoor with their friends and families so these events suit more for them than celebrate
