His loyalty in standing up to take on the Green Knights challenge is one good reason he is courageous. No one ever stood up to take the challenge besides him (). Even though both stories have a different viewpoint. The two epics have very well demonstrated the idea of what a hero needs to do. Beowulf has demonstrated his bravery in all “stages” when fighting the evil monsters and performing his loyalty by protecting his people (Walker 121-25). On the other hand, Sir Gawain represents as a noble knight. As different to Beowulf, Sir Gawain has represented aristocratic Knight who demonstrated his loyalty and honesty for the other Knight (Kinney 50-52). However, Christianity had played a major role in Beowulf and Sir Gawain. This reason is that Kinney and Kroll have demonstrated that they are exposing themselves to an event that requires them to take action for what they are about to face. As a result, it had shaped the way of becoming the character they been (Kinney 48-49, & Kroll 120-122). To get back to the point, Beowulf and Sir Gawain are excellent examples in demonstrating a hero. Over reading these articles have given examples of why both characters have similarities and differences for them to be heroic.
