Additionally, I hope to perfect

Context/Commentary This morning during group time, a small group of children sat around the preservice teacher (Emily) as she read a book. This book was selected by Willow. As the preservice teacher read from the front to back, the children pointed out pictures that interested them or had previously seen. On the first page, Oliver pointed at a picture of a green frog. He then looked up at the Emily with a questioning gaze.…

Although the title claims that this textbook is meant for contemporary students, this book in truth is not relatable to modern society. It talks about many writers and most students have no previous knowledge of these people, their works, or the terms the authors use. This book is not completing its purpose and instead is causing students to become confused. Justice/Fairness: For the benefit of the students, I propose that an alternative textbook should be used in order to help students learn their…

Wow, it’s hard to believe this semester has already come to an end. When I first walked into English 102 this semester I wasn’t sure what to expect of this course, but I knew I would be challenged. Although before this course I knew how to write papers, I had trouble expressing my thoughts effectively in my writing. EN222 Final Reflection Essay 1000 word minimum MLA Format EN222 was not exactly a class that I was excited about seeing on my schedule this semester. Literature is not something I had ever really enjoyed. I went back and forth with my advisor on whether or not I needed the class. It is the only general education class that was not required when I obtained my Associates Degree from Omari's Technical Community College. Diving into the class reading and assignments, I found myself beginning to enjoy literature.…

I found this practice a little bit challenging. I found it challenging because I’m not very good at analyzing passages for AP exams. I figured that out last year in AP Literature. Although I did do well on this one I was very anxious about my answers because with passages and literature, I think everything is more of an opinion than anything. Everyone interprets things differently, especially hard, long passages on the AP exam.…

Taking your AP Composition English class has been a frightening yet successful challenge. Personally I have always struggled with the English language since it is not my native language. Freshman year I was denied into the honors English program as was the case sophomore year. In my college prep classes I noticed I was not making any noticeable gains, so that was when I realized I had to challenge myself by taking your course. The rumors stated by current seniors made the class seem impossible.…

Everyone hates English class is what I thought before taking English 102. However, that may have been the case before I entered Dr. Byrd’s domain, but after finishing the class I have come to the realization that English class can be greatly resourceful. English 102 this year has had its ups and downs, and I must admit the ups outweigh the downs. Meaning, this year, I have learned that I am not a student who wants to read or write, but through reading and writing my mind and skill sets concerning English have grown. During English 102 this year, reading and writing in class helped me expand my writing skills, improved my will to comprehend, and most importantly helped expand my knowledge.…
