Amir, the main character of the story, has and needs flaws in order for the story to progress. His characteristics mainly consist of being a “coward” or “not a man” as said a few times by his father and Assef. Amir later shows that he is a brave because goes back to Afghanistan to save Sohrab and pay back his debt with an even greater purpose since he found out that they are brothers. Once Sohrab is safe Amir has a great weight is lifted from his shoulders. He is finally able to be free emotionally. Hassan, on the other hand was always free of pain that took him right to heart.
