The Kings of the Persian Empire are described as wise and tolerant. They believed they should honor the local customs and religions of the land he’s conquering instead of destroying local temples. The empire was not exploited as ruthless for the benefit of the center and instead, each part of the empire had it’s own governor and was seen as an equal part of the empire. The Persian Empire was divided into twenty provinces and they were similar to the homelands of the different groups of people living under the Persian rule. Each province practiced their own religion, spoke their won language, and also followed many of their owns laws. Tribute was demanded from each region, but not as mercilessly as in the Assyrian
