Compare and Contrast Essay When it comes to the topic of abortions, it can be a rather heavy situation to discuss. Many people believe it is cruel and should be illegal, those people are called pro-life activists. A pro-lifer’s stance on abortion is that it should never be an option. Once a woman finds out she is pregnant, that fetus is considered a human and has a right to live. Also, there are people who feel that abortion is a great option and should be legal. Those group of people are called pro-choice activists. A pro-choicer outlook is that a woman should have the right to choose abortion since it is her body and can choose to have a baby or not. Choosing to be pro-choice is stronger than being pro-life because it is safe a process, reduce the number of unplanned pregnancies, and gives woman an option in case they did not plan on having a baby. In January 1973, the Supreme Court made the decision to make abortions legal for woman. Woman need to have that option to terminate the pregnancy if needed. Even in Ohio, a law just passed called the “heartbeat bill” banning abortions once the heartbeat is detected. The heartbeat can be detected around six weeks into the pregnancy. Pro-lifers were thrilled once they announced this news, thinking no more abortions will happen here in Ohio. Pro-choice people knew that this bill was not going to stop abortions. It was just going to stop safe abortions from happening or woman could just drive to other states that have abortions legal. Six weeks is still very early before a woman may even know if she is even pregnant
