In The Crucible, Arthur Miller depicted the time period of the Salem Witch Trials and made Abigail Williams the antagonist. She would accuse the wife of the man she committed adultery with, just to be with him. However, her lies get out of hand, which leads to the death of her lover, John Proctor, not Elizabeth’s, his wife. To begin with, Elizabeth and Abigail are completely different when it comes to their actions even though they do it for the love they have towards John Proctor. Abigail not only committed adultery but turned to witchcraft to kill Elizabeth Proctor. Whereas Goody Proctor is only trying to forgive her husband for his sin. Then their differences can be shown through their honest, despite the fact they both lied, Abigail lies constantly meanwhile Elizabeth only lied once to save her husband.
