Compare And Contrast A Cry In The Wild Vs Hatchet

Decent Essays
I believe that “A cry in the wild”does a better job than the novel Hatchet.I think this because A cry in the wild explains what happened way better than the novel Hatchet. For an example when the pilot had a heart attack the movie made it look like he was in very bad pain but in the novel Hatchet it didn't even sound like he was hurting. Also the movie uses way more foreshadowing and imagery.Like when Brian throws his hatchet across his shelter it made sparks. When he fell asleep he had a dream and he woke up and he made a fire. For an example for imagery , when his mom kissed the guy big , juicy , and a meaningful kiss.As you can see , “A cry in the wild” does a way better job than the novel Hatchet.

I believe that “Hatchet” does a better job telling the story more than ¨A cry in the Wild. I believe this because, they had more imagination to the book more that the movie. They had a moose in the book, the part where the blond haired man kissed Brian’s mom in the wagon. Brian had a friend named “Terry”. When Brian and Terry went to the park to play a pretend game like they were lost.…

The author has absolutely amazing imagery all throughout the book. For example, “He had been frightened, terribly frightened; the intensity of his terror had left a lingering residue like the stale odor of cigarette smoke in an empty room.” In my head I can smell the awful smell of cigarette some. Another example would be, “Then, abruptly , the atmosphere was shattered by the crash of a screen door and a volley of wild barking. A small black and white terrier burst out of the house and a came hurling across the the yard to throw itself full force against the side of the car.”…

Several times he tried to relate to a damaged tree that had been vandalized. The tree was hacked into strips on one side of it and he could relate to it because he felt the same way as the tree. “A beautiful redwood, wounded. He saw an image of the dark bark cut away to real the bright vermillion inside thick with tannin. He reached down, drew his hand along the skin of this arm, imagined it peeled off, revealing the vessels and bones, the shock of disease, death.…

How would you feel if you were approached at random in your own home to go to a place where each day you’d be fighting for your life? Well, this was what happened to Ender Wiggins. Ender’s Game is a science fiction story focusing on battles between different armies throughout space. It leads to a search for different soldiers all trying for one ultimate goal: beating the returning champions, the “Buggers.” When looking at both the film and the novel, in my opinion, the book was superior.…

Several times throughout the story, the author uses metaphors while creating images and scenes. An example was a scene taking place inside the Hadley’s nursery, where George Hadley discovered an African Veldt. “Your mouth was stuffed with the dusty upholstery smell of their heated pelts and the yellow of them was in your eyes like the yellow of an exquisite French tapestry…” the author continues to build this scene, but the bulk of the metaphors he uses are in this passage. The way he writes the scene vividly describes how realistically the nursery makes the veldt seem, even though it is only an image on the wall.…

For decades, popular novels have been published and years later followed with a film. Although the movie tends to portray imagery, the course of events in the book tend to contrast to those of the film. This became abundantly clear when I read the book and watched the movie, The Natural. In both the novel and the film, we learn about the life of a baseball player named Roy Hobbs, who was born with a talent and was given the ability to pursue his goal of life. Although his mindset was determined to break all the records in the game, many obstacles stood in his path ultimately skewing his priorities and driving him towards a path only ending with failure.…

“ . “When he looked down to face the boy the room swam before his eyes,” this would be an example of personification that occurs in the climax of the story. “He noticed the two Second World War medal ribbons on the man's left breast, and knew the scoutmaster had never left the country.” This would be an example of symbolism, they are symbolizing the ribbons to never leaving a country. “Smell of hymnbooks and varnish that carried him back to his choir-boy days.”…

Throughout the entire essay, imagery is used to create a feeling of love instead of pain and suffering. This being another underlying literary theme. Annie uses the metaphor “was the whole weasel still attached to his feathered throat, a fur pendant?” (Dillard) to show the fearlessness of the weasel. Another example of a metaphor in the non-fiction states, “Our eyes were interlocked, and someone threw away the key” (Dillard).…

An example of specific imagery is when Updike says that Webb is “Grease- gray and kind of coiled” (p.1). This paints an image of how Webb went from a hometown hero to working at a dirty job and place. “Grease- gray” (p.1) represents the boredom of his job and the lack of fame that comes with it. Another example is when Updike describe the pumps as “idiot pumps” (p.1). This creates an image of how Webb use to be the town idol.…

    Imagery In The Rattler

The short story "The Rattler" includes a few examples of imagery. The author chose to describe the snake as "six-foot blacksnake thick as my wrist" to create a threatening image of the snake to the reader. If the author had described the snake as a harmless shoelace the man would not seem to have a reason to kill the snake. The authors description "the scrub's dry savory odors" appeals to the readers by creating a pleasant idea of a distinct smell. The author includes this imagery of the specific smell to emphasize that the man was alone in an unpopulated area where both the man and snake could have left the area unharmed.…
