The play and the film both introduce the characters Jacob Marley, Ebenezer Scrooge, Bob Cratchit, and Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future. Although both the play and film contain the same characters, I personally think the play does a better job of describing each individual character. I can read at my own pace and re-read to get a better understanding of the characters personality, traits, and looks. The film did a decent job at describing the characters personality and traits, but I could barely see the characters face or body due to the poor quality of the dated film. Both begin the story on Christmas Eve. The play and film did a excellent job in showing and describing the settings. I feel in this aspect the play and the film were very similar. Although both did a superb job in presenting the setting, I think the film gave me a better picture in my head. I have never been to London, England, and although the film did describe the city very well, I was still having trouble getting and exact visual in my head. When I actually saw the streets of London in the film, I finally had a solid picture in my head of what the city, streets, and homes looked like.
