Hypothesis: Eating breakfast really help student improving their academic performance.
Correlational Study In a correlational research, we observe without manipulating two or more naturally occurring variables to find a relationship between them. The operational definition of the breakfast is a meal made of eggs, bread served with a fruit juice. The academic performance is defined as how well the students will do on the test and will be measuring …show more content…
For a true experiment to be a TRUE experiment, participants must be randomly assigned to groups and the independent variable must be manipulated. To conduct the experiment, I must have two variables: an independent and dependent variable. My independent variable is the breakfast. This the one that I will be controlling. Whereas, my dependent variable will be the academic performance. This is the one that I will be measuring. In fact, the experimental group will be served a breakfast prior going into the classroom and taking the quiz. On the other hand, the control group won 't be served any breakfast prior to take the …show more content…
I will request students not to eat anything before coming to school this morning. Then, I would have a computer generate random assignment of these students into two groups 100 would be in the experimental group and the other 100 in the control group. Each child would come into the classroom and I would them that I would like them to take a quiz on what their teacher discussed the previous day in their English class, but first hey would have to wait, and I 'll get back to them when it 's their turn. Of course, the operational group would wait in a room different from the experimental group. Then, the students in the experimental group will be given a breakfast composed of eggs, bread and fruit juice. The other group won 't be given any breakfast. The child will then be led into the classroom where their English teacher will distribute the multiple choice test. I would have every student complete the test, the only difference will be that students in the experimental group had breakfast, while those in the operational group did not. At the end of the class, test will be collected and graded. Then I will look at my results and see how did the students who received the breakfast on the test. I will also look at how did the students who did not received the breakfast on the
