Comparative Analysis Power, while necessary for the progression of society, is very easy to corrupt people with and be abused in the wrong hands. George Orwell wrote 1984 and Animal Farm as a warning of what could happen when power is obtained and left unchecked. Throughout both novels the theme of power causing corruption is evident in how the power is obtained and how it is maintained. The events that unfold to the party and Big Brother in 1984 are very similar to the situations the pigs are set through in Animal Farm.
