Comp I: English Class Analysis

Comp I, also known as English 3 is an English class where students are taught how to write a proper essay. Many high schools allow their students to take Comp I and Comp II for college credit as well as for high school credit. In this class they are shown how to write a good thesis statement, how to put yourself into the paper, the importance of an introduction and conclusion, as well as the various different essay styles. Throughout the class, students will write a descriptive essay, evaluation essay, process essay, and a narrative essay. In the descriptive essay the writer gives all the details about a person, place, or thing. With the evaluation essay something is being analyzed, usually a person. A process essay s typically written instructions, like a recipe. A narrative essay is usually about an event that happened to you. The whole point of a narrative essay is to write about something personal; only the writer can write their story. The essay was just a story that had happened to them, all they had to do was write it down. The hardest essay was the descriptive essay just because of how many different ways there are to describe one thing. The biggest thing that could have been improved out of all of the different types of essays would be organization; the way thoughts get jumbled up and do not come out right. How important the organization was surprising. As well as how different each type of essay was. All the steps for each one was completely different depending on which one was being written. There was also so many different ways to write a certain type of essay and so many topics to write it over. There is surely a way to write about the same subject for every single type of essay. The class as a whole was surprisingly hard. Not that the anticipated level of difficulty was low, just more difficult than
