Community Work Application

I am a freshmen here at Providence College and I am looking to apply to the Community Work Study. I was very excited when I found out that I was awarded work study as a part of my financial aid package. Having a work study will allow me to further finance my college education. This will put less stress on my parents who work very hard to make sure I can get a great college education. Being able to work will also teach me to be more responsible and further help prepare me for the real world when I graduate from college.

I am applying for the positions at the Providence Children’s Museum, Paul Cuffee Middle School, and Paul Cuffee Elementary School. I am applying for these positions because all of these work sites require the ability to be able to work and connect with children. Building connections and bonds with children is something that I have grown to love. I have been working at academic and recreational summer camps since my 9th grade year. I have continued my passion of creating a bond through working with and helping kids because it is something that I have greatly benefited from when I was a kid looking for role models. A big reason why I am in the position I am in today is because of other people who took the time to help me when I was growing up.

My background includes working at the Kwong Kow Chinese School in Boston,

I was able to apply here because I lived in the community and I was able to get the job because of my previous work experience in the same field. This camp was more recreational, but it still required the patience and skill to work with little kids who are often not easy to work with. During my time here, I was also able to participate in a art program. I was able to do hands on training for different types of art. I worked with computers, cameras, and even had the chance to create art projects for the

Camp Jewell YMCA is a place where all can come to enjoy time in the wilderness, create lasting relationships and cherished memories, and grow as a person in every aspect. Throughout my time at Camp Jewell I have experienced what this amazing community can do for you. I have met with counselors who have come from across the globe to give children the summer experience that they all hope for and need. Seeing the smile of a child’s face after a perfect day at Camp Jewell is the reason so many people keep coming back year after year. I feel that the commitment of five weeks of my summer complimented with low pay, long hours, and time-off restrictions is not a deterrent for this job.…

I want to work with at-risk youth because I believe it's essential to support and help children while they are young to have a positive outlook on life and hope it will prevent them from engaging in some form of criminal activity. I also believe that children who have some form of adults' guidance in their lives are less likely to be involved in criminal activities. I believe I would be a good candidate for this position because I have had experience in this field of work. Both of my parents have work 20+ years in the criminal justice and social work fields, so I have seen firsthand the effect an authority figure can have on a child's life. As I explained earlier, children just need some guidance from a supportive figure to change their lives.…

Ain’t Got the Time, Don’t Do the Crime Here at Stephen F. Austin State University, it is nearly a necessity to have the utmost pride and respect for the university, scholars, and faculty. However, there have been numerous accounts when the Community Assistants have failed to show any consideration towards anyone that goes near the front desks -- especially the students. These “assistants”, more commonly known as CA’s, obviously do not care about the students’ concerns, doing such things as rolling their eyes or scoffing at them, and even go as far as ignoring the students when asked for assistance. Their responsibilities consist of holding events in the lobby, holding events in coordination with other groups on campus, petulantly dealing with their building’s residents (including their personal conflicts), sitting at the desk all day, staring into their phones, and filing the…

This year, I did three events at Pegasus and one event for the Boy Scouts. My events with Pegasus added up to nine hours, and one hour for the Boy Scouts’ yard sale. I had a lot more fun with community service this year, and I feel that I helped more people, rather than just shelving books.…

What I choose was to pick a park near my home in Stockton which is called Panella Park. This was an ideal place because, everyone enjoyed the park when I was a kid, however no one really comes by anymore because of the increase of technology. With this I decided that I wanted to pick up the trash that laid there because of how much fun I had when I was kid.…
