Community Wheels (CW) is a nonprofit agency seeking to provide income-based transportation to nonprofit clientele in Harrisonburg-Rockingham County, Virginia. Formed in direct response to the growing number of community members who use services provided by the many nonprofits within the Harrisonburg-Rockingham County community, CW will form partnerships with Uber as well as a number of local nonprofit organizations. By doing so, Community Wheels’ goal is to foster a commitment to community members who receive services from various nonprofits throughout the city and county and to provide them with reliable transportation to those local nonprofits. While there is a Program Director, the majority of the work is evenly distributed across the three paid employees. In regards to its volunteers, the Volunteer Coordinator manages the use of volunteers for administrative tasks as well as for their willingness to transport people.

Community Wheels is located in Harrisonburg, Virginia and serves other local organizations and their clientele. Currently, Community Wheels is in the process of locating a physical building.

Community Wheels’ mission is to provide reliable, time-conscious, transportation to the clientele of local nonprofit organizations in Harrisonburg- Rockingham County, Virginia.
Vision
Community Wheels strives to create a future were community members are not burdened by the lack of money needed to make use of transportation. Perhaps the most comparable organization is The Rideshare Company. Over the last 25 years, the company has built a reputation as an eco-friendly, carpool/vanpool company. They provide carpools and vanpools for people who are seeking rides to and from work as well as places throughout their respective communities. Although they offer their services nationwide, they do not offer services in the Harrisonburg-Rockingham County community. The closest office is in Charlottesville, Virginia, which is about an hour away. As a result, Harrisonburg-Rockingham County community members are left to rely on expensive modes of transportation, as mentioned earlier.
