Though the therapist may see a potential benefit to focus a group on a particular path, such as more SUD treatment and awareness than education of co-occurring disorders. This is determined based on unit assessment, but Santiago is adamant that treatment is not selective. Determining the client’s needs is done during admittance to treatment through an assessment and this determines what treatment follows for the best success to recovery. Though there are strong similarities in symptoms of mental illness, there may be need for specialized treatment through detox or medication that must be addressed first before a group may benefit the client. This process of assessment is not perfect, and sometimes clients may need to have particular behaviors addressed in the midst of treatment.…

The purpose of this paper is to briefly explain the process in which the Mental Health Court executes when solving problems that combine legal and mental health issues. The importance to raise awareness about this matter is with the sole intention to reduce criminal actions and improve the quality of life of the person who takes part in this activity. Many people will argue that this type of problem-solving court system might not be necessary to correct the criminal behavior; however, evidence based practice may demonstrate otherwise. The King County’s therapeutic courts handle people with mental illness differently from the other defendants; their main goal is to give criminals with a mental illness the treatment that…

By using the Tidal Model as a guideline, they could begin by focusing on the world dimension of the model in order to achieve a better picture of Violet’s wants and needs. The world dimension requires that the client share their thoughts, feelings, and beliefs with the healthcare provider in order to foster understanding through holistic care (Clan Unity Ltd., 2000). Barker outlines ten important factors for achieving this goal with the client. These factors include: discovery of the origin of the problem, past problem function, past emotional context, developmental history, relationships, current emotional context, holistic content of the client’s view, holistic content of client’s self-concept, the client’s needs, wants and wishes, and the client’s expectations (Barker, 2001c). This part of the assessment would serve to give Lena and the caseworker a better understanding of what Violet’s challenges are in regards to managing her schizophrenia, and what problems she feels arise because of it.…

This is because a client may fluctuate in needs or one environment may start out positive and end up not working out. Also, if a client lives independently and they get hurt, there is a chance that they may not be…
