Community Service Research Paper

I decided to do community service that is more diverse than what I did last year. Last year, I did all of my work at the Newport Beach Public Library. This year, I did three events at Pegasus and one event for the Boy Scouts. My events with Pegasus added up to nine hours, and one hour for the Boy Scouts’ yard sale. I had a lot more fun with community service this year, and I feel that I helped more people, rather than just shelving books.
I first did community service at Bookmark Pegasus. I was not invited as an ambassador, however, Mr. Crabtree invited me to help showcase the robotics lab. When people came in, I gave them a basic run-down of the robotics program, what we do, and answered any questions that people had. I occasionally showed them demos of the robots, but I mostly just talked. After a few times, I had a small speech memorized in my head, which made it easier for me. I was surprised by how much I remembered about robotics, despite not having done it for a few years. I think that I gave a good representation of the robotics program and what an average Pegasus student is.

I helped set up games and food on the table, and when people got there, I played basketball, board games, and drew with the kids. We watched a movie, and played some games too. The pizza was good and nobody went hungry. When it was over, I helped clean up and left. It was fun to play with the little kids, but the best part was knowing that I was raising money for less privileged and orphaned kids’ education. We are very privileged to go to this school, and it's nice to help out kids that aren't as fortunate as

I have donated time in my city, state, country and internationally. Through the many opportunities that I have had for community service, I have been able to broaden my views, and look outside my community at how others experience our world. I have visited very diverse communities ranging from the inner city of Detroit, MI to a small, economically depressed village in Honduras, to the mountains of Pennsylvania and inside homes very different from mine in my own…

I helped and taught kids how to pack bags with supplies for birthday parties. That Sunday was for many different charities, and families went around and help out them out. Since we had a table for my mom’s charity, I helped run the event. About an hour before the event we came to the area and set up the bags, frosting, cake mix, and the other supplies. Two of my friends helped me out, and my mom was there.…

I volunteered at the Forest Mall for the Tootsie Roll Drive. This organization provides service for those people with intellectual disabilities. What I physically did while volunteering at the Forest Mall was hand out Tootsie Rolls outside to the people that donated money. I also would kindly ask people to donate as they came in or out of the mall. I kept a kind and loving smile on my face to welcome anyone who was willing to donate.…

Every week, I always attend the meeting that presents new opportunities for community service. Some volunteer events that I have participated in over the course of the past two years are the Tualatin Food Pantry, Race for the Cure, Project Jumpstart, and the student store. Some ways I offer service outside of school is by being assistant to an art teacher every week and volunteering at the Beaverton Foodbank occasionally. I work with elementary aged kids that have an interest in art. At the beginning and end of each class, I will set up examples of sketches and books where the children can get inspiration from and also put out the supplies that the children will need such as paper, pencils of various lead hardness, paints, or paint…

I started building my foundation for community service back in fifth grade with Girl Scouts. My troop volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House, read to kindergartners, and organized food at the food pantry. I continued these acts all the way up through eighth grade. In high school, I joined Key Club, where I sold flowers for powder puff, volunteered at my elementary school’s Trunk or Treat, and helped with the book and coat drive. Outside of school, I continued serving in my church through events like VBS.…

Social services should be cut regardless of the status of our national debt. Social services are a form of socialism, are inefficient, and are one of the many ways in which the government massively oversteps it's jurisdictions. Even if our debt was $0.00, government provided social services should be completely deleted, permanently. Although many try to deny the facts, some left-wing politicians have admitted that social services constitute a form of socialism, and are a stepping stone to complete socialism.…

In order to raise money for prom this year, I accompanied the class of 2019, for 5.5 hours, to a west point game and worked in concessions. I had a great experience working with my peers to achieve a goal that would benefit the senior class. Recently I have engaged in service with my church, for 4 hours, helping to move furniture while they were switching locations. From this experience I learned that sacrificing my time for a communal effort may seem minuscule, but ultimately helps increase efficiency. Also I volunteered at the annual Easter egg hunt at memorial park last weekend for 3.5 hours.…
