Over the summer I held a 4 week program at our local park and daycare that introduced young kids to music instruments. I gathered a few kids from every section of our high school band and we went to the daycare and showed kids what our instruments did and even let them play some of our instruments. I loved doing this because it gives me contentment to see these kids smiling and having a good time. My goal was to raise kids awareness for music before middle school so they have a stronger interest to be involved in music. Throughout the year, I volunteer at our town's middle schools to help kids with playing the clarinet. I believe by giving back to the community it gives me better overall life satisfaction, when I help others feel good, I feel good.
Participating in community service also provides cognitive benefits. I help volunteer at Park Square Manor, a retirement home, and teach chair yoga. I began doing this my freshman year with the Avon High School yoga club. We believe it is important for everyone to be able to find serenity, no matter the circumstance. While doing so, I get to meet many different people with so many interesting stories. It's rewarding when they tell us how much they enjoy us coming. By doing this, I enhance my personally knowledge, grow from new experiences, and increase my interpersonal
