A significant component of community service is the willingness and desire to help others. When I volunteer in the community, my heart does the majority of the work. Meeting new people and spending time getting to know them establishes an emotional connection beyond the tasks performed. Smiles and simple “thank yous” are sufficient compensations for knowing that I made a difference in another person’s life; they provide a sense of satisfaction that nothing else fulfills.
Additionally, engaging in community service affords the ability to positively impact other people’s lives, an action that benefits both them and myself. My service experiences have been mind opening and helped me realize how broken our world is. Every service activity in which

Since I was young, my family has prioritized sharing its time, talents, and treasures with others. Growing up in a family who loves, supports, and provides for me has been a blessing. Through volunteering in different environments, I have learned that not everyone is fortunate enough to experience these comforts that I may have otherwise taken for granted. By interacting with the communities around me, I hope to impart compassion and security to those whom I serve.
The experiences I have had throughout high school have inspired ambitions for my future. Not only do I wish to pursue a professional career in medical research, but I also desire to continue committing time to local, national, and international causes. My fluency in the Spanish language will expand the realm of possibilities for serving in diverse cultures. As a young woman of faith, generosity, and academic excellence, I hope to combine my talents and interests to benefit the world around me. Community service is, has been, and will always be an integral part of who I am. As I mature and pave my way on this earth, I aim to hone my passion for helping others in order to enhance the community while touching people with my love and

Community service is not as bad as some people make it out to be. I myself had an internal groan when I heard that community service was required and would be set as a grade. I had only known volunteerism as doing a dull boring task with no discernible reward. But after experiencing it for myself I found it quite the contrary. Volunteering is a way to meet new people and witness a group working toward a greater cause.…

Before attending high school, my elementary school teachers would talk about civic engagement, and their descriptions lead me to believe that participating in community service would be boring and burdensome. I remember my teachers saying things like,” In high school you’re going to have to do community service in order to graduate. Such as volunteer at an elderly home, or an animal shelter.” Prior to actually completing a service project, I only had an unappealing image of community service in mind. However, once I got to high school, I grew to love community service as well as learn the importance of…

Community service means to help out those who are in need. To give some of your own time to be able to assist those who are less fortunate. During the Special Olympics I went with my AFJROTC group to volunteer our time to help out with the event. We helped out to run the games and make sure everything ran smooth for the participants. It was an enjoyable event but what really made it worthwhile was to see all of the kids being so excited to be able to compete in the event.…

I have completed many hours of community service and I believe that it is my responsibility to involve myself in my community in any way possible. Getting involved in the community helps build a strong character and it teaches certain values that will benefit other communities. Speaking of community improvement, it is also my responsibility to pay any taxes set for me by our state and federal governments. Without taxpayer money, it would be impossible to maintain many of our most precious and crucial government funded organizations. If the American people allowed those organizations to fade away, we would be hurting our country and helping ourselves.…

An elderly woman who got to take part in a high school community service project states, “Many think that volunteering is all about what you give. But what catches you by surprise is how much you receive in return.” This demonstrates why many people do not feel that they should give back because they do not believe the benefits that they can get from it as well. Consequently, when creating that feeling of happiness and satisfaction in someone else’s life, it comes back to the person creating it. Volunteering to help someone get tutored, help the handicapped, involve themselves with a program like Meals on Wheels, certain environmental work, etc., not only does one gain from that, but one’s community has been helped because of them.…

As an only child growing up in a middle class family, I learned the value of helping others through my parents. My hard working parents were brought up in Bangladesh, a third-world country in South Asia with devastating poverty. Moreover, my parents are very strict and disciplining individuals; they both loved to help others regardless of their physical endurance, mental health, or economic stability. As role models, they reared me in the belief that my goals in life should include lending a helping hand to others. Furthermore, my empathy for others has encouraged me to aid those in need.…

Even today being a public health nurse I am still able to help my community by advocating to people why they have to take care of their body so they don’t have to come see me at the hospital. That through my community service, college, and to become a nurse, I have found that I love giving back to my community. As a public health nurse I can save you a trip just by telling you how to take of yourself. The biggest point is that if I didn’t get my life tighter and start caring about my grades I would never have never started volunteering , and if I never started volunteering I would have never found my passion of helping and giving back to my…
