Community policing is very important for a police department. Community policing is a very misunderstood and abused form of policing. Community policing is where you work with the public and the people in your beat to better the community as a whole. The public will tell you if something is suspicious or something they have noticed happening in their area and that should be kept an eye on. Community policing is different around the world for example let’s look at Canada. They have one of the lowest crime rate because they use community policing to its full potential like it should be used. They are very close to their police department. I believe community policing to be very effective. In the neighborhood I live the police they have monthly meetings and outings so they can interact the public. Community policing is the key reason so many areas are safe to live in. You can tell when the area is not much into community policing is when the area has a lot of crime and crime rises. It shows a lack of work between the public and the local police department. There is a lot of pros to community policing. It creates a direct contact if an officer has to patrol the same neighborhood day in and day out.
