- Hospital Council of Northwest Ohio (HCNO) is a non-profit hospital association which is located in Toledo, Ohio. The organization provides a variety of services such as community health assessment (CHA) which, shared services for hospitals with discounted rates, disaster preparedness, evaluation of grant programs, and health programs. The organization has been doing health assessment since 1999. In order for the HCNO to provide health assessments in an efficient and timely manner it requires collaborative work and conducting meetings which should include physicians, health educators, administrators, elected officials, school officials, law enforcement, churches, businesses, the public, and mainly organizations decision makers.
- Collaboration is having a group of organizations working together to improve their community in many ways. Working within a coalition can help in reducing costs, a variety of resources being obtainable, and increasing efficiency. - National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) has added CHA to the voluntary public health department national accreditation process. In the state of Ohio, the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) has mandated that all health departments in their state that wish to continue providing their services to the public and receiving funds from the ODH have to start the accreditation process by 2018, which means that they are required to conduct a CHA, community health improvement plan (CHIP), and an internal strategic plan each time they apply for
